What is a hydrogel?

  • Cross-linked hydrophilic polymer (synthetic or natural bio): a super absorbent material that can hold 100 of times its weight in water
  • In contact with H2O, the material absorbs it (swells based on the amount of absorbed H2O) and becomes a water crystals, resp. gel
  • When it’s dry, it’s a powder or granules
  • 1g will absorb ca 500ml of water

What is the goal of bio hydrogels?

  • Basically, it’s to grow more food with less H2O...
  • Reduces drying and loss of moisture from the substrate
  • Reduces use of fertilizers up to 30% (reduces washing out)
  • Limits the amount and frequency of watering up to 50%
  • Guarantees higher yields up to 15%
  • Stimulates the development of the root system
  • Improves the structure of soil (restoration of humus)

How does it works?
